Bridgette Jackson, a Democrat from Grant Avenue, is running for Altoona City Council.
The 33-year-old holds a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. She is a Store Solutions Supervisor at Sheetz.
“Altoona has always been very good to me,” Jackson said. “I grew up in this community, graduated from Altoona Area High School and it has supported me through many transitions and milestones in my life.
“It gave me family, a home, a career and an incredible support system. It provided the public education I needed to excel and succeed in other areas of my life, allowed me to engage in a community and has afforded me the opportunities to question, learn and flourish.”
Kelley
Bruce Kelley, 61, of Seneca Avenue, is seeking re-election as a Republican for Altoona City Council. Kelley was first elected in 2004 and is currently serving his fourth term.
“I’m proud of the progress we’ve made as we position Altoona for the future, Kelley said. “But there is still a lot more work to do.”
Kelley plans to build on relationships he’s established over the years with local, county and state officials. Kelley says the priorities of council should be to improve the city’s infrastructure, promoting economic development and investment in the downtown, and maintaining the city’s recreational opportunities.
Dave Butterbaugh Jr. is seeking the Republican nomination to be re-elected to Altoona City Council.
Butterbaugh, 51, who resides on Oak Avenue, is director of surveying and geospatial services for Lehman Engineers in Hollidaysburg. He has been surveying since earning his associate degree at Penn State in 1990 and is licensed in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He also serves as the pastor of the Independent Christian Bible Church in Altoona.
“I enjoy serving our community and having worked with over 100 municipalities throughout Pennsylvania has allowed me to bring the good ideas to Altoona and improve our city.” Butterbaugh still serves on the blighted property review committee since being appointed in 2010 by Mayor Bill Schirf and continues to work to improve the blight program and create opportunities for development to expand the tax base. Bringing the downtown area to life and getting the city on stable financial footing has also been his focus.
