My New Orleans 07/14/2021   NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Uptown neighborhood taco stand and margarita garden Barracuda will open its second location in Algiers Point on the West Bank today at 446 Pelican Ave. Barracuda was founded by Brett Jones in March 2019 with a focus on accessible and easy-going dining. His decision to open a second location in Algiers Point was driven by its strong sense of community and storied history. The new Barracuda outpost will offer walk up counter service, and extensive shaded and covered patio seating across from Confetti Park. Local Designers Collaborate for Zero-Waste Jewelry Line 07/07/2021   NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Local New Orleans businesses, Passion Lilie and Beatrix Bell, are excited to announce their collaboration on a limited-edition, zero-waste jewelry line. Katie Schmidt, designer and founder of the sustainable clothing brand Passion Lilie, collaborated with local jewelry designer Beatrix Bell to launch the line on the heels of the pandemic. “I had all of this leftover fabric cut into small bits, some of it from making masks,” Schmidt says. She started working tirelessly making masks at the beginning of the pandemic because that’s what was selling. “I wanted to utilize those leftover pieces and not waste them. The idea of a jewelry line popped into my mind and I’m not a jewelry expert.”
