The Detroit News A 21-year-old Metro Detroit man lost his footing and fell to his death at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula, authorities said. The man was identified as Dominic Rotondi of Lincoln Park. Rotondi, for reasons . unknown, stepped over a fence Saturday at the top of Miners Castle, lost his footing and fell about 100 feet, striking the cliff face and landing in Lake Superior, the National Park Service said. The incident happened at about 7 p.m. Officials said the Alger County Sheriff s Office and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore park rangers responded. The investigation is ongoing by the National Park Service. ....

Teen dies following snowmobile crash in U.P. over the weekend Updated Feb 23, 2021; Facebook Share AUTRAIN TOWNSHIP, MI A 16-year-old Alma boy has died following a snowmobile crash over the weekend. According to WLUC 6, the boy was injured in the crash which took place around 6:16 p.m. Saturday on snowmobile trail #7 in Alger County. The teen has been identified as Thomas Timothy Watson, according to police. After the boy was transported to the Munising Memorial Hospital he eventually succumbed to his injuries. The Alger County Sheriff’s Office says Watson failed to make a curve in the trail, causing him to leave the path and drive into several trees. ....
AUTRAIN, MI A downstate teen has died in a snowmobile accident in AuTrain. Saturday around 6:15 p.m. Alger County Dispatch received several calls reporting a snowmobile accident on Trail #7. The Alger County Sheriff’s Office, Alger EMS, Rescue 21, the DNR and Guardian Flight responded. Investigation determined the driver, 16-year-old Thomas Watson of Alma, failed to negotiate a curve and struck several trees. Watson was taken to Munising Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Tags: ....
