Facebook, Instagram & TikTok launch campaigns for NAIDOC Week

‘Connect to Country’ from Facebook Australia and Indigenous creative agency Campfire x.  
With the creative developed by DDB Melbourne, the ‘Connect to Country’ campaign invites Australians to better connect with the world’s oldest continuous culture, and encourages brands and businesses to embed First Nations culture as an integral part of their physical and digital footprints. 
Starting today,  the campaign video asks all Australians “Where You From?” and encourages them to discover more about their local First Nations communities, with resources available on the ‘Connect to Country’ Facebook page. These resources include videos to learn how to acknowledge Country and tips for connecting with their local community and language groups. ....

This NAIDOC Week, Australians are being encouraged to discover the Traditional Country beneath their feet with the launch of ‘Connect to Country’ via Indigenous creative agency Campfire x, Facebook Australia and DDB Melbourne.
 
Campfire x and Facebook Australia have partnered to launch the movement to drive awareness amongst all Australians of the culturally significant Country upon which they live and work every day.
The ‘Connect to Country’ movement invites Australians to better connect with the world’s oldest continuous culture, and encourages brands and businesses to embed First Nations culture as an integral part of their physical and digital footprints. ‘Connect to Country’ spotlights positive storytelling and representation, and offers easy ways for everyone to make Indigenous Culture an essential part of our everyday life. ....

Jim Cameron leaving Daytona Chamber after 38 years


Jim Cameron at the end of April will end his 38-year-long run as the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce s point person for government relations.
He is one of the longest tenured staffers the chamber has ever had in its 101-year history. He has served under five executive directors during his time here.
And the 66-year-old isn t ready to call it a career just yet.
He plans to become a consultant, helping clients by doing what he does best: helping people make connections.
Cameron s job as senior vice president of government relations is conveying the chamber s position on various issues to elected officials at both the local, state and federal levels. ....

A senior police officer has admitted that he touched a colleague on the buttocks during a training drill but claims it was an accident and nothing more .
Sergeant Jason Scott Renwick, 49, gave an emotionally-charged testimony in the Brisbane District Court this morning telling the jury he did not deliberately grab the junior officer s colleague s bottom during a firearm training exercise in February last year.
As soon as I made contact I realise that I d made contact with the bottom half of her buttocks, sgt Renwick said.
I immediately said sorry don t hate me and I laughed - I gave a nervous laugh. ....
