Hermann and Grotheer win mixed team skeleton gold at IBSF World Championships Saturday, 13 February 2021
Tina Hermann and Christopher Grotheer doubled their gold medal tally at the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Championships by winning the mixed team skeleton competition in Altenberg.
Hermann and Grotheer defended their women’s and men’s titles yesterday, with the pair joining forces in the mixed team event today.
Hermann achieved a time of 58.40sec in her competition run, with Grotheer clocking 57.01 to preserve their advantage.
The German duo finished in a combined time of 1min 55.41sec to secure gold.
Jacqueline Lölling and Alexander Gassner finished as the silver medallists, completing a German one-two by finishing in 1:55.55.

ALTENBERG, Germany - A year ago, Tina Hermann became the first woman to win back-to-back world skeleton championships.
Sheâs done one better now.
Hermann has now won three consecutive world titles, rallying in the final heat Friday to beat fellow German slider Jacqueline Loelling for this yearâs crown. Hermann finished four runs over two days in 3 minutes, 52.97 seconds â 0.11 seconds ahead of Loelling, who was the leader going into the final run.
Skeleton events to begin with IBSF World Championships to resume in Altenberg Wednesday, 10 February 2021
Skeleton events will provide the focus as the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Championships resumes in Altenberg tomorrow.
The World Championships opened last week with United States’ Kaillie Humphries and Lolo Jones winning the two-woman bobsleigh event, before Germany’s Francesco Friedrich and Alexander Schüller won the men’s competition.
Competition will resume tomorrow after a three-day break, with the first two runs of the men’s and women’s skeleton events being held.
Austria’s Janine Flock will begin as one of the favourites for the women’s title, with the 31-year-old having been crowned this season’s overall World Cup winner.
Gassner piles pressure on World Cup leader Dukurs with Königssee win Friday, 22 January 2021
In-form Alexander Gassner cranked up the heat on overall men s skeleton leader Martins Dukurs with victory at the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup in Königssee in Germany.
The German registered a winning time of 1min 39.88sec after runs of 49.91 and 49.97 on his home track, while Latvia’s Dukurs produced his worst performance of the season.
Dukurs finished more than a second behind Gassner in 11th place as he watched his rival win for the second successive race.
With just one stage remaining, defending champion Dukurs holds a 60-point lead over Gassner at the top of the overall standings.
