Though many in Connecticut have shed their masks, for tens of thousands of residents with weakened immune systems, doing so may not be safe.
Though research isn’t yet conclusive, experts say some immunocompromised people likely receive less protection from COVID-19 vaccination, leaving them at risk as long as the disease continues to spread. Connecticut’s coronavirus numbers have dropped precipitously in recent weeks, but with hundreds of people still testing positive each day, some high-risk residents remain nervous.
