UK Military Chief: No Reason for Taliban’s Jihad in Afghanistan
General Sir Nicholas Carter, Chief of General Staff of the United Kingdom, has said that the Taliban has no justification for their Jihad in Afghanistan now that foreign forces are leaving the country.
In an interview with TOLOnews, General Carter said that the Taliban are now fighting against the Afghan people, and they should avoid the war.

There are few signs that the Taliban are willing to engage in peace talks, Alison Blake, the British ambassador to Kabul, has admitted.
With the UK joining the US in a military exit from Afghanistan by September, she told a Chatham House conference that the Taliban were engaged in psychological warfare and were ignoring western voices calling for power sharing and a commitment to protect women’s rights.
“The Doha talks are clearly becalmed. We are nowhere near where we hoped to be at this point,” she said, referring to the negotiations in the Qatari capital between the Afghan government and the Taliban to try and reach a power-sharing deal. ....

Deadly bombing near Kabul girls school sparks international outcry

Saturday’s bombing near a girls school in Kabul city has sparked outrage among the international community, including the US, the UK, Germany and the United Nations, who have all condemned the incident in the strongest terms.
In a statement issued by the US State Department, Washington called the attack “barbarous” and called for the immediate end to violence.
Early Sunday, reports indicated that the death toll had risen to 58 with over 150 people wounded.
The incident happened on Saturday evening when a car bomb was detonated close to the school. Among the victims are many students, including girls. ....
