A few weeks after winning the Okanagan Short Fiction Contest, a Kamloops author is shortlisted for a CBC literary prize. The Burgess Shale by Karen Hofman is among short stories by 10 English Canadian authors shortlisted for the CBC Short Story Prize. First prize nets the winner $6,000 while a pair of runners-up will receive $1,000 each. I think, population-wise, there s good representation from B.C., said Hofman, a member of the TRU English and Modern Languages faculty.
