Continuous skin-to-skin contact between infant and mother, or kangaroo mother care (KMC), is one of the most effective ways to prevent infant mortality globally.
The current recommendation from the World Health Organization (WHO) is that skin-to-skin contact should commence as soon as a low weight baby is sufficiently stable, which for those weighing under 2 kg at birth normally takes several days. ....
