ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (KOAT) Changing one life by rescuing another. That’s what one New Mexico cowboy has been doing for several years.
If you think you’ve seen a cowboy in the Bosque lately, your eyes are not playing tricks on you.
Every Friday for the last five to six months, you can find Larry McGovern and his horse, Dollar, in the Bosque off of Alameda Boulevard in Albuquerque.
McGovern rescued Dollar at an auction.
“He’s come from Texas. I think he was in Arizona and now he’s in New Mexico. What we could track down was eight to 10 owners for a 12-year-old horse and two ranches. That is just a lot,” McGovern said. ....

Changing one life by rescuing another that s what one New Mexico cowboy has been doing for several years. Every Friday for the last five to six months, you can find Larry McGovern and his horse, Dollar, in the Bosque off of Alameda Boulevard in Albuquerque.McGovern rescued Dollar at an auction. He s come from Texas. I think he was in Arizona and now he s in New Mexico. What we could track down was eight to 10 owners for a 12-year-old horse and two ranches. That is just a lot, McGovern said.McGovern has been a cowboy all of his life and trained most of his horses. He now trains Dollar with plans to donate him to Challenge New Mexico, a local nonprofit in Santa Fe that helps children and adults with disabilities.Training a horse is a lot of work, especially one that McGovern said has been beaten. Las Cruces Police ID, Arrest Suspect in Burglary at Catholic School

Hugo Castaneda, 39, of the 2200 block of north Alameda Boulevard, was arrested Wednesday afternoon and is charged with one second-degree felony count of aggravated burglary while armed with a deadly weapon and one third-degree felony count of larceny.

Las Cruces police learned the burglary occurred close to midnight on April 11, 2021. Investigators learned someone made forced entry into at least two portable buildings at Las Cruces Catholic School, 1331 N. Miranda St. Surveillance video showed the suspect arrive on a bicycle. The video also shows the suspect carrying a firearm that’s holstered to his belt.

Among the items stolen were several Chromebooks, laptops, projectors, webcams, disinfectant wipes, books and supplies for students. The stolen items had an estimated value in excess of $5,000. ....

Investigation into Monday morning shooting underway in Las Cruces

The Las Cruces Police Department says that an investigating is underway into an early-morning shooting that injured a Las Cruces man.
Police say that officers responded to a call of a reported gunshot victim early Monday morning. LCPD says that officers arrived at a home at 2200 North Alameda Boulevard where first responders found a 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. LCPD says the man was transported to an area hospital.
Las Cruces Police Department says that they have not yet identified a suspect or suspects in this case. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this incident to call police at (575) 526-0795. ....
