“I don’t want to know. But I need to know. And I think it’s important for the country that there be an independent evaluation,” Murkowski said. “Is that really what this is about, that everything is just one election cycle after another?”

The city of Huntsville on Thursday released information about the status of Huntsville Police Officer William Darby that WAAY 31 has been asking for since his murder conviction earlier this month.
City leaders initially said they were still calculating how much, if any, of the $125,000 pledged for Darby’s legal defense had been spent.
On Thursday, the city said it “has paid $89,132.39 in legal fees for Mr. Darby.”

An Alabama state trooper arrested last week on charges he raped an 11-year-old girl had been kicked out of the FBI amid a string of sexual misconduct allegations but was hired by the state agency with the apparent help of a fake bureau letter that scrubbed his record clean.
Christopher Bauer, 41, was arrested last week in Montgomery, Alabama on charges including sodomy and sexual abuse of a child under 12, used a forged letter from FBI to become a state trooper.

An Alabama state trooper arrested last week on charges he raped an 11-year-old girl had been kicked out of the FBI amid a string of sexual misconduct allegations but was hired by the state agency with the apparent help of a fake bureau letter that scrubbed his record clean.
An Associated Press investigation found Christopher Bauer was suspended without pay and stripped of his security clearance in the FBI’s New Orleans office in late 2018 effectively fired amid allegations that included a co-worker’s claim that he raped her at knifepoint.
