Terrebonne General Medical Center has appointed Dr. William St. Martin as chief of medical staff and Dr. John Steigner as vice chief of staff for 2021-22.
St. Martin has served as vice-chief of staff for the past two years and Steigner has served on the Medical Executive Committee for six years.
St. Martin, a Houma native, received a bachelor of science degree from Nicholls State University and subsequently graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences. St. Martin is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and has been practicing in Houma for 26 years. ....

Floyd Council resigns as executive director of Birmingham Public Library

Birmingham Public Library executive director Floyd Council has resigned.
Council, who was named executive director in 2017, resigned Tuesday after consultation âwith my doctor, my pastor and my attorney,â he wrote to BPL employees.Â
Council didnât give a specific reason for leaving and said he would offer no comments about the culture at the library or strategic future of BPL but prays âthat the City and City Council will make viable plans to support the library system for the next 100 years.âÂ
On Wednesday, the BPL board named Janine Langston interim executive director. Langston has served as deputy director since 2019 and is a 34-year employee of theÂ Birmingham Library. ....
