Tribute to Local Link drivers operating during pandemic


Local Link Kerry has continued to provide vital transport throughout the pandemic and continues to operate, on a reduced capacity, during the current Level Five restrictions.
With buses operating from Ballylongford to Bonane, from Barraduff to Brandon Point and everywhere in between, Local Link Kerry services cover the length and breadth of county, and this vital service has ensured that those who need rural transport have not been left abandoned during the pandemic.
Last week Cathaoirleach Cllr Patrick O Connor-Scarteen paid tribute to the drivers who have continued to operate throughout lock-down.
General Manager of Local Link Kerry, Alan O Connell, said that all precautions are taken, including reduced capacity and regular cleaning. He said the service has proven vital. ....

Councillor John Reilly has questioned the location of the mobile masts built across the county as part of the next phase of the National Broadband Development Plan.
In 2019 it was announced that the Government was to invest €33 million to deliver high-speed broadband to Louth, with 8243 homes across the county to benefit from the scheme.
Nine Broadband Points were announced with six of those put in place by October of 2020 and the rest due to arrive in the year ahead but at last weeks meeting of the Dundalk Municipal District, the Fine Gael councillor questioned the location of two of these connection points. ....
