The NHRC has taken cognisance of a complaint that the ASHA workers are not getting their dues and safety equipment despite being working on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic, a statement said.

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain the UP Government’s petition seeking transfer of pleas challenging it’s ordinance on religious conversion from the Allahabad High Court to the top court.

The panel, which advises the government on legal issues, has not been constituted since August 31, 2018, when Justice BS Chauhan’s term as Chairman of the 21st Law Commission ended.

New Delhi, Dec 18: The Supreme Court on Thursday sought a response from the Centre and eight states including Karnataka and Assam on a plea of Twitter Communications India Pvt Ltd seeking quashing of multiple FIRs lodged against it for allegedly promoting a tweet on Khalistan .
A bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde took note of the submissions of senior advocate Sajjan Poovayya, appearing for Twitter India, that there cannot be multiple FIRs for one incident and sought their quashing.
The firm has sought clubbing of the FIRs for conducting the trial in one lower court as done in the case of journalist Arnab Goswami. ....

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday did some plain speaking with Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and told him in so many words that the government s negotiations with the protesting farmers are not yielding results and are bound to fail yet again.
The court suggested that a committee comprising representatives of farmer unions, the government and other stakeholders be set up to resolve the issue.
