ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Monday expressed its profound grief over the sad demise of Muhammad Arshad, Secretary of the Council, who passed away the other day due to COVID-19. The members of the Executive shared the grief with the bereaved family of Muhammad Arshad and prayed that All Almighty may bless the departed soul in eternal peace and give strength and fortitude to members of his family to bear the irreparable loss. The committee paid rich tributes to Muhammad Arshad in respect of his performance, saying he was very competent, devoted highly responsible official in discharging his duties. It is pertinent to mention here that late Muhammad Arshad was a man of dignity and honour who used to give respect to everyone. KARACHI: Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) plans to send javelin thrower and the country’s Olympics medal hope Arshad Nadeem to Turkey for three weeks training.
The AFP has planned to field Arshad in an international event in Mashhad, Iran, next month and from there he will be sent to Turkey.
“We are working on this plan. His coach Viktor Yevsyukov of Kazakhstan also plans to move to Turkey and so we want to send Arshad there from Iran to undergo three-week training under him in Turkey,” AFP secretary Mohammad Zafar told ‘The News’. ....

Training camps to continue despite Games postponement: Dr Arshad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Director General Dr Arshad Mahmood Thursday expressed his resolve to keep supporting the training camp for aspirants of the Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games even though the Games’ organisers in consultation with the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) have decided to postpone the event scheduled to be held in Bangkok and Chonburi province from May 21, 2021.
The Games will now be held from March 10-20, 2022.
To discuss the issue of athletes’ training, the representatives of the ten federations had a detailed meeting with the director general PSB.
“Though we know that the Games have been postponed till early next year, yet we are willing to support the federations’ camps meant for training of the athletes. The federations’ officials have shared their reservations and concerns with me as I had given them the opportunity to speak their heart out, however some of their concerns were surprising,” ....
