By George Bains 12 May 2021 The construction of 34m superyacht Lady of Leisure is progressing well at the Van der Valk shipyard ahead of her September delivery date. The 34m custom explorer yacht has been commissioned by experienced owners for specific requests, and is destined to be a lady of leisure on the seas. The owners have been keen to get out to sea as soon as possible, and took inspiration from Van der Valk’s previous work on 29m Venera. Designer Guido de Groot also worked with the owners to add distinctive rounded details and an additional deck that will provide panoramic views of the environment wherever Lady Lene cruises. ....
By George Bains 12 May 2021 Malcom McKeon Yacht Design has announced that the build contract has been signed for MM332, a 33.5m sloop-rigged sailing yacht that follows the successful delivery of SY Liara in 2019. MM332 will be built by Baltic Yachts in Finland as the Baltic 110, and builds on an already established relationship between the MMYD studio and Baltic Yachts. This will be the third vessel to feature Baltic’s innovative electric propulsion system and the yacht will also be equipped with low emission twin 129kW generators that use new Cummins diesel engines, designed to meet IMO Tier 3 emissions regulations. Baltic 110 is a powerful cruising yacht developed by an experienced and knowledgeable owning family, and is designed for long distance global voyaging. Time Off is the ninth hull of the popular 55-metre YS 5009 design and following her final outfitting, will be available for immediate delivery this summer. Time Off follows in the footsteps of her predecessor Gene Chaser with a large multipurpose Main Deck hangar which is technically ready for stern A-frame installation and allows for a flexible deck layout. Configurations can include submersible and dive operations, vehicle garage or workshop facilities, storage of equipment, space for social engagements or even transport of relief goods.
