Desert Winds Freedom Band promotes community music through scholarships

The
Desert Winds Freedom Band, a 501(c )(3) nonprofit, is a large and diverse community musical group based in Palm Springs. Founded by
Gary Moline in 2001 with just 17 members, the band has grown, both in membership and concert attendance. Now in its 19th season, the band boasts more than 80 members.
In addition to providing the gift of music at various venues and events around the Coachella Valley, the organization has a philanthropic arm and recently provided $1,000 scholarships to three college-bound student musicians. Since the inception of the scholarship program, the band has awarded a total of $28,000 to 28 students, using funds received from the ....

All-day Cinco De Mayo Celebration In Logan On Wednesday

To celebrate Mexican heritage on the anniversary of the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla, Cache Valley Media group is hosting a celebration at Willow Park featuring food trucks, live performances by local artists and other activities.
Community groups including Latinos in Action from Logan High School, the Latinx Cultural Center from Utah State University, The Family Place, Centro de la Familia, Bear River Head Start will be present at the event with information about the services they offer.
