As the President of Capital Jazz, the Jazz India Delhi Chapter, he ensured that the music performed in Jazz Utsav was in tune with the times.

UNESCO New Delhi Celebrates World Art Day 2021

The launch led to a webinar organised in co-operation with The Marg Foundation and Sahapedia, focusing on the 1980 UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of the Artist.  The Recommendation serves as a key international instrument promoting cultural diversity and expressions, as well as specific measures to improve the socio-economic and professional conditions of artists and cultural professionals around the world.
Ms. Nirupama Kotru, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, provided the perspective of the Government of India on the difficulties related to the Covid-19 crisis. The webinar also featured representatives the Lalit Kala Akademi, the Sahitya Akademi and the Sangeet Natak Akademi. The session on international best practices highlighted the case of the Republic of Korea, where artists benefit from strong social and legislative support of their creative works. ....

Haryana restaurants fear 80% loss of business due to night curfew

More than 80% of the daily business for restaurants and bars will be wiped out in Haryana with night curfew in the state and many top chains are planning to shut down till the restriction is in force, executives at large dining chains said.
“The 9 pm-onwards curfew means we have to shut down at 8 pm. This is not sustainable at all and doesn’t cover the costs of operating. Lunch business is very small since most people are working from home in any case,” said Zorawar Kalra, MD of Massive Restaurants, which runs marquee restaurants Farzi Cafe and Made In Punjab, among others. ....

There’s something different about a music venue run by a musician. The sound is wholesome - more understood, setting up is smoother and the vibe is of a community coming together to enjoy the artform, learn from and lean on it, and support one another. The musicians on stage are more than mere entertainers. And the silence is different – it’s put in place so that audiences listen to one song in complete silence and let the magic take over. At least that’s the case at The Piano Man, Delhi, and Gurugram. That’s the dream project of musician Arjun Sagar Gupta, which began as an art café variant in 2010.  ....
