The funeral for a four-year-old boy who died following a road crash in Longford last week takes place this morning.
Charlie McDonagh was killed when he was struck by a van in the Palace Crescent housing estate in Longford town last Wednesday afternoon.
His funeral mass is just underway in St Mel s Cathedral and he will be laid to rest afterward in Ballymacormack cemetery.

Motorists in the town are being warned to expect traffic delays before and after the funeral mass as the cortege makes its way to the graveyard. ....

The tragic toddler who was knocked down and killed in a Longford town housing estate this week is to be laid to rest on Monday.
 
Funeral Mass for four year old Charlie McDonagh will be held at St Mel s Cathedral at 11am followed by burial in Ballymacormack Cemetery.
The youngster was fatally struck by a van in the Palace Crescent area of Ardnacassa shortly after 2pm on Wednesday and tragically died a short time later.
Tributes have been pouring in for the toddler over the past 48 hours as the wider community rally around his heartbroken parents Charlie and Pearl, family and extended family. ....

Tragic boy knocked down by car in Longford weeks after 4th birthday as tributes paid to 'our angel'

A YOUNG boy was killed after being knocked down by a car yesterday - just three weeks after celebrating his fourth birthday.
Charlie McDonagh was struck by a car while out in Ardnacassa, Co Longford, at around 2pm and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The boy lost his life in the Ardnacassa area of Longford
The boy’s remains were removed to Mullingar Hospital where a post-mortem will take place later.
Emergency services remained at the scene as gardai preserved the area for an examination.Nobody else was injured in the collision.
Family and friends told of their shock at the tragedy. ....

The community of Longford is in shock following the death of a four year old boy in a collision on Wednesday afternoon.
The boy lost his life after being struck by a van in the Palace Crescent area of the Ardnacassa housing estate shortly after 2pm.
He was pronounced dead at the scene after he was in collision with a van.

A post mortem is due to take place on the boy s remains at Mullingar hospital today and CCTV footage in the area is also set to be examined as part of garda investigations ....
