Factbox: Nigerian schools hit by mass abductions

Kidnap for ransom has become common in parts of the northwest in recent years. President Muhammadu Buhari in late February urged state governments to “review their policy of rewarding bandits with money and vehicles, warning that the policy might boomerang disastrously”.
