Governor Reynolds Reallocates Local Government COVID-19 Relief Funds

Washington County is receiving additional COVID-19 relief funds for local government entities as part of a reallocation made by the state.
Governor Kim Reynolds announced last week the reallocation of $17 million in relief money to local governments for direct expenses incurred in response to the COVID-19 emergency. Of the $17 million remaining from the Local Government Relief Fund, roughly $4.7 million was previously allocated to smaller cities, and to simplify the distribution it is being reallocated to the county the city resides in. Washington County is receiving a total of about $153,629. The funds must be used to cover necessary expenditures that were incurred from the period of March 1st to December 30th, 2020, such as acquisition and distribution of personal protective equipment and sanitizing products, test kits, ventilators, temporary emergency staffing and overtime costs, and other necessary COVID-19 medical supplies and equipment. ....

DES MOINES, Iowa Bars and restaurants impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic will be able to apply for a one-time grant through the Iowa Restaurant and Bar Relief Grant Program starting Feb. 1, Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Thursday.
The program will provide $40 million in funding for businesses that experienced a decrease in gross sales during the second and third quarters of 2020 compared to 2019 second and third quarters, according to Reynolds. ....

(Des Moines, IA) The state is launching a $40-(m) million grant program for pandemic-impacted bars and restaurants. Governor Kim Reynolds says the Iowa Restaurant and Bar Grant Relief Program will offer one-time grants of up to 25-thousand dollars based on lost sales. The awards will be based on declines in gross sales in the second and third quarters of 2020, compared to the previous year. The application period is between Monday, February 1st and Monday, February 15th. More details are expected to be released next week by the Iowa Economic Development Authority and will be posted on www.iowabusinessrecovery.com. ....
