Blake’s Guardian Angel Tracy scoops top award An ‘amazing’ specialist nurse has been hailed a ‘Guardian Angel’ after being nominiated by a Co Armagh teenager in the new Goodness campaign. Wednesday, 12th May 2021, 12:10 pm Blake McCaughey (13) has had to have specialist care for several years and the Tandragee teen nominated his nurse Tracy Close as part of the Dale Farm community goodness campaign. Tracy, who is a Gastroenterology nurse, is the winner of the new Sharing Goodness Initiative, a six-week acts of kindness campaign to recognise all the good things happening in local communities. After receiving thousands of nominations, Tracy was chosen as a winner following the heart-warming submission from her Blake, who has spent two years in the Royal Belfast hospital for Sick Children receiving care and treatment for a serious intestinal condition. ....

I’M extremely privileged, having a picturesque little lake a few yards from my current abode near Glengormley. There are also several small rivers and streams nearby, meandering through forests, parks and undulating hills to Belfast Lough. After nearly a year of working from home, this has become my daily déjà view, and with lockdown restricting any significant journeys, I can only dream about the expansive waterways of Lough Erne with the Atlantic beyond. Nor have I wandered Bangor’s wonderful coastal path lately – one of my favourite, local, seaside walks. NI Water is currently constructing two new underground wastewater pumping stations there, replacing the old, outdated infrastructure at the Brompton Road and Stricklands Glen locations. ....
