Teenager from Malahide takes portrait prize


Eva McParland (14) won the award for her piece, Is This Normal?
The winners were announced at a virtual ceremony last week.
Eva said: This portrait is of my younger sister Ellen. The mask she is putting on is central to the piece. It seems nearly normal now; but not long ago it would seem strange. I think this provokes deeper questions about the concept of normality.
As well as a winning a personalised wooden box of high quality art materials, Eva took home a €500 prize for her work.
Portrait of a Boy, Morning by Aidan Crotty was announced as the winning portrait for the Zurich Portrait Prize. ....
