Potential campervan site identified on Northumberland coast at Amble in bid to address overnight parking issues


A potential site for overnight parking of campervans on the Northumberland coast is being investigated.

Officers at Northumberland County Council are examining the suitability of a hard-standing area on the Braid in Amble.
The suggestion was put forward by local councillor Jeff Watson, and £5,000 capital funding has been allocated to progress the idea.
He said: “The council has been aware of a shortage of overnight camping sites for a while, particularly an issue last summer.
Cllr Jeff Watson has suggested the potential for Amble Braid to be used for overnight campervan parking.
I hope we can facilitate this site as I think it is in an ideal position causing no inconvenience to locals and meeting increasing tourism needs. ....

Cautious welcome for 'complete turnaround' in Amble Covid-19 rate


An Amble councillor has cautiously welcomed the ‘complete turnaround’ in the town’s Covid-19 rates.

Six weeks ago, Amble ward had among Northumberland’s highest coronavirus infection rates but case numbers are now considerably lower.
Latest date from Public Health England, published by Northumberland County Council, reveals there were 13 positive cases in the week to January 13 with an infection rate of 247.6 per 100,000.
Neighbouring Amble West with Warkworth fares even better with fewer than five positive cases recorded over the same period and an infection rate of 99.2.
