New contemporary art museum opens in historic Spanish city of Cáceres

It includes works by Joseph Beuys, Dan Flavin, Joseph Albers, Paul Klee, Nan Goldin, Jenny Holzer, Anish Kapoor, Philippe Parreno, Gordon Matta-Clark and many others, which the public will be able to experience for free in a space that was specially designed to display them. The new museum is designed by award-winning Tuñón Arquitectos Studio. It includes spacious galleries and exhibition spaces and is located on a landmark site on an imaginary line that separates the medieval historic centre of Cáceres, a World Heritage site, from the modern part of the city. Ms de Alvear was born in Germany in 1936 and has lived in Spain since 1957.

From the beginning the main goal was to achieve a natural and fluid movement around agreed or spontaneous landmarks, originating from the speed that comes from the relations between the body and the space, rather than from the imposition of walls and doors. © Amores Pictures Every partition was therefore demolished, and once the original conditions were reinforced and isolated, we decided to host a central volume standing at barely two and a half meters high. The volume articulates the quotidian rehearsal around the room while concentrating all the humid areas at the center of the apartment, serving as a bathroom and as a kitchen.
