In the future, Czech police are expected to gain access to a list of people and even businesses who repeatedly violate coronavirus measures in an effort to bring down the deaths and infections that have assailed the country.

New Covid measures tighten conditions for staying at accommodation facilities

The Czech government has announced some fresh restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19. In an evident bid to keep people away from ski centres, only people on work trips will be allowed to stay at accommodation facilities; they must produce a letter from their employer confirming they are on a work trip and are not allowed to bring family members with them. Chair lifts will not be permitted to operate in ski centres.
People are only allowed to stay at their own recreational properties and exclusively with members of their own families. The new measures, which also include a ban on most hospital visits, take effect from midnight Friday. ....

Government to debate proposal to open ski resorts

The cabinet is due to meet on Wednesday to debate a proposal to open the country’s ski resorts.
An earlier proposal outlining the conditions under which this could be done, presented by Trade and Industry Minister Karel Havlíček, was rejected by the government on Monday for being too benevolent. Minister Havlíček, who will present an amended version of the proposal, stresses that officially reopening the country’s ski resorts will enable the government to bring the situation there under control.
Thousands of Czechs visit the slopes daily although ski resorts remain closed, and there is no control over safe distancing, face masks or other hygiene measures. Interior Minister Jan Hamáček argues that it is too soon for such a move in view of the high number of infected and the situation in Czech hospitals. ....
