American Flyers Will Be Taking Delivery Of Eight Pilot 100i Aircraft By End Of Year
Piper Aircraft has received type certification from the FAA for the Pilot 100. The Pilot 100, which was announced during Sun-n-Fun in 2019, is the value priced addition to Piper’s trainer-class line. Following certification, Piper began deliveries to its launch customer, American Flyers, who will be taking delivery of eight Pilot 100i aircraft by the end of 2020.

Piper Aircraft announced this week that the Federal Aviation Administration in the USA had issued the type certificate for the Pilot 100 basic trainer.
The Pilot 100 is a new aircraft that matches a PA-28 airframe with a 180-hp Continental motor and Garmin G3X avionics that sells for around $US300,000. The aircraft has only two seats, with an option for a third observer seat in the back.

The FAA formally approved the Piper Pilot 100 trainer aircraft, clearing the way for the first of eight aircraft destined for American Flyers by the end of the year. Based on the evergreen Archer, the Pilot 100, introduced at Sun ’n Fun 2019, is intended for fleet training use. While the Pilot 100i was displayed in Florida with the Continental-built PRIME IO-370, the production aircraft uses a Lycoming IO-360-B4A making 180 HP.
