Centre Sanctions Underwater Research Into Ram Setu Origins

NEW DELHI: The government has given approval to an underwater research project to ascertain the origins of the Ram Setu.
Ram Setu is a 48-kilometer-long chain of limestone sandbars which start from the Dhanushkodi tip of Pamban Island, off the south-eastern coast of Tamil Nadu, India, and end at Mannar Island, off the north-western coast of Sri Lanka.
Ram Setu is also known as Rama s Bridge or Adam s Bridge or Nala Setu. Pamban Island is also known as Rameswaram Island.

SHILLONG: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leaving no stone unturned in promoting Northeast on the world map and bringing progress and prosperity in the region.
Addressing the 69th plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) here, Shah said, Whether it is natural beauty or rich cultural heritage, the region has immense potential to become a big tourism hub of our country.

GUWAHATI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged people to give five more years to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to make the Assam free from flood.
Addressing a rally in poll-bound Assam s Nalbari on January 24, the Union Minister said, A flood of development came here. Hospitals, new roads, colleges are being constructed. Industries are being set-up here. In the coming days, Only BJP can solve the biggest problem of Assam floods. We have made Assam free from bullets and agitations. Give five years more to BJP and we will make Assam free from flood too .

Jalukbari police arrested two youths – Jitu Choudhury hailing from Garigaon and Muktar Ali hailing from Hajo – from a Wagoner (AS01DZ9126) from the Saraighat Bridge here on Saturday along with 30.780 gm drugs contained in to soap cases, besides Rs 26,500 cash.

GUWAHATI: Jalukbari police arrested two youths – Jitu Choudhury hailing from Garigaon and Muktar Ali hailing from Hajo – from a Wagoner (AS01DZ9126) from the Saraighat Bridge here on Saturday along with 30.780 gm drugs contained in to soap cases, besides Rs 26,500 cash.
To this effect, a case has been registered at Jalukbari Police Station.
