A star-studded event taking a place a year-and-a-half into a pandemic is bound to be talked about. By electing to stage a live ceremony, the Hum Style Awards (HSAs) broke through the dark clouds that the coronavirus had cast upon the entertainment and fashion industries, and dusted out the erstwhile red carpet that had long been sulking away in the shadows. The guest list featured a heavy smattering of famous names and social media buzzed with coverage from the show. This, of course, proved to be a burden as well as a blessing for the HSAs. ....
Daily Times July 8, 2021 Sharmila Faruqui, a Pakistan Peoples Party leader, has spoken up in favour of women actors who attended the 5th HUM Style Awards. “Let them be,” she said. “Stop judging women for their choice of clothes, they are adults.” Sharmila shared a collage of Alizeh Shah, Mashal and Amar Khan, along with a screenshot of actor Bilal Qureshi’s Instagram story. Bilal was one of the first celebrities to express his disappointment over “revealing” outfits. “No one should be commenting on their choice of attire negatively, it’s a free world,” Sharmila said. She showed support for Bushra Ansari as well. “Let Bushra Ansari dance to her heart’s content. She has every right to do so.” ....
