The city of Amarillo s public health department reported an increase of 23 COVID-19 cases in Potter and Randall counties from Friday in Monday s COVID-19 report card, the first report card of the week. This brings the area s number of cases to 34,173 since the beginning of the pandemic.  Of the total, 452 are listed as active, which is a decrease of eight net active cases from Friday. There have been 32,974 recoveries and 747 deaths related to the virus since the start of the pandemic.  As of Monday, there have been 285,701 conducted COVID-19 tests reported to the public health department, six of which are pending. Monday s report card also shows that Trauma Service Area A is recording a 2.83% COVID-19 hospitalization rate as of Sunday. The rate is recorded daily by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
