With $7.6 million on hand, Eric Adams is the undisputed money king of the mayoral race. Scott Stringer is in a not-so-distant second with $6.85 million. Andrew Yang raised an impressive $2.14 million in just two months, but he won’t be eligible to receive his $4.73 million in expected public matching funds until April 15 at the earliest. ....

In the run-up to the June primary, the Bronx Democratic Party is backing more women candidates for the New York City Council than ever before, which could tip the scales for the first time toward a female majority of local Bronx legislators.
The shift reflects the changing face of politics, which throughout more recent years has seen more women run for office. For Marjorie Velazquez, who sought the party s endorsement in 2017 but was snubbed, greater female representation means addressing important topics such as sexual harassment.
When you re not including all of us at the table, like women, it means something, Velazquez told Gothamist/NYC, adding that women lawmakers can offer a different perspective when it comes to discussing issues such as sexual harassment, which can help craft tougher laws against it. ....

Instead they pushed the NYC Council to do its job and pass intro 1994, a bill that will fully fund voter education on RCV.

More than 20 women, predominantly women of color, sent an open letter to the members of the City Council on Monday urging them to avoid any measure that would delay the implementation of ranked-choice voting.
“We are mothers, carpenters, chiefs of staff, teachers, public defenders and nurses. And with the adoption of Ranked-Choice Voting in New York City, we’re hoping to add City Councilmember to that list,” they wrote in a letter that also advocates for a bill that would require the city to conduct a thorough public education campaign. ....
