Craft beer 'Hops for Hope' event in Lansdale seeks to raise mental health awareness


LANSDALE — May is Mental Health Awareness Month and local Lansdale businesses are coming together to build mental health awareness in the community.
One in five people identify living with a mental health challenge in a given year. The Dubnow family knows the impact of supporting a loved one who experiences mental illness. They combined their love for craft beer and wanting to share the life of Noah Dubnow to create an opportunity to raise mental health awareness in their community with Hops for Hope, according to a press release from the National Alliance on Mental Illness Montgomery County. 
NAMI stated in the release that the alliance is excited to partner with Round Guys Brewing Company, Well Crafted Beer Company, Lansdale Tavern, Stove & Tap, IPkAyyyyyy and the Dubnow Family to host the in-person event, Hops for Hope, to raise mental health awareness in loving memory of Noah Dubnow, a beloved son, brother and father. ....

Emotion overload drives demand for mental health services amid social, economic and political unrest.


There is a new pandemic spreading across the U.S., but this one isn’t fueled by microscopic infectious parasites.  
It is the result of the emotional overload tied to a once-in-a-lifetime convergence of a worldwide health crisis on top of social, economic, racial and political unrest that has exhausted American psyches, mental health experts say.  
“We have uncertainty to the max,” Temple University psychologist Frank Farley said. “We’ve had a sort of piling on of stressors, which I have never seen in my lifetime. No break and restrictions on our response because of COVID.”
The “psychological pandemic,” as Farley calls it, has resulted in unprecedented demands and needs for mental health resources, support and services.  ....
