The Catholic Church in India has responded to the second wave of Covid-19 with a priority to save lives as thousands die daily of the viral infection across the country.
“Our priority now is to save as many lives as possible,” said Archbishop Victor Henry Thakur of Raipur, capital of Chhattisgarh state, where people’s movement is restricted because of a strict lockdown.

Along with Pope Francis, Catholics in India have started a month-long rosary recitation seeking divine intervention to save them from Covid-19 as the pandemic continues to kill thousands daily.
The pope launched the marathon prayer on May 1 at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, urging Catholics across the world to say the rosary daily during May, the month traditionally dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

NEW DELHI (CNS) An oxygen leak at a government hospital in India has killed 22 COVID-19 patients as the entire country faces a huge shortage of oxygen to support pandemic-hit patients.
Ucanews.com reported that the leak in the main liquid oxygen storage tank at Zakir Hussain Hospital in Maharashtra state led to a drop in the oxygen pressure of ventilators, and the patients died immediately April 21.
