The long-running financial crisis engulfing one of the state s biggest churches has deepened dramatically.
The Presbyterian Church of Queensland revealed on Thursday that it had secured court orders to tip its legal entity, PCQ, into receivership, a move certain to shock employees, congregants and other stakeholders.
Services for aged care facilities, schools, congregations and other community groups will continue to operate as usual while the receivers, PwC bean counters Michael Owen and Phil Carter, review PCQ s operations.
The startling development follows the church s failed efforts at a restructure over more than a year as it sought to extricate itself from a disastrous involvement in the aged care sector. ....

Upgrades for aged-care facilities after commercial deal

A Sydney-based aged care provider will be forming a commercial partnership with three facilities in Rockhampton and Maryborough, with the aim of investing in and redeveloping them.
The three PresCare sites, Alexandra Gardens in Rockhampton, as well as Yaralla Lodge and Groundwater Place in Maryborough will be acquired by the new organisation.
CEO Stephen Becsi said the partnership would allow organisations like the Presbyterian and Catholic churches to continue their mission within the age care facilities, but exit the industry as operators.
Apollo Care will be investing in the operational and built form of these three aged care communities, while partnering with the Presbyterian Church to continue to provide the pastoral care and spiritual support that makes these sites special, he said. ....

Christmas comes early for Apollo care home residents

A South Wirral care provider has been collecting donations to create Christmas hampers for the vulnerable people they look after.
Apollo Care is treating each of its clients to some festive joy by gifting them with a specially put together hamper in time for Christmas.
Each hamper is topped off with a handmade card from the children at Church Drive Primary School in Port Sunlight and items within the hampers have been quarantined to make sure each present is Covid safe before delivery.
