THEY had been at home for 10 months on account of the closure of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They eagerly returned to school mid last month and were set to write their final examinations, graduate and join in the efforts to develop their father land.
This will no longer be for Samuel Adesomoju Tobi, a final year law student and Oluwasemire Ojinni, a final year Business Administration student of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Ondo State.
The duo were among 15 victims of an accident at the university gate on January 23. While Adesomoju was one time president of the Students union of the university, Oluwasemire was the first female president of the National Association of Business Administration and Management Students of AAUA. ....

Daily Trust  gathered that not much beyond the name and reputation is known about Malam Abba who, residents say, resides within the enclave of Kuduru forests, west of Birnin Gwari LGA. The forest is said to share boundaries with Chikun, Igabi and Giwa local government areas; Kaduna’s most notorious bandit hideouts. While Malam Abba, his lieutenants and several other bandits call Kuduru forest home, several other criminals lay low in the larger Kamuku National Park which crisscrosses five northern states of Kaduna, Katsina, Niger, Zamfara and Kebbi states. Court fixes February 25 for trial of Fashola's impersonator

A Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed February 25 to resume the trial of Mr Malik Wakili who was charged with impersonating and defrauding Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola (SAN).
Tribune Online reports that proceedings on the matter were stalled due to the absence of trial judge, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke.
Justice Aneke did not sit following the demise of his colleague of the court’s Abeokuta division, Justice Ibrahim Watila, who passed away on Monday after a brief illness.
Tribune Online also reports that Mr Wakili was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in December 2019 on a three-count charge of impersonating and defrauding Fashola of N3.1 million. ....

53 doctors have tested positive for COVID-19 in Kano – NMA

The Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association says it has so far lost three doctors to the coronavirus pandemic while 53 others tested positive in the state.
The state NMA chairman, Dr Usman Ali disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Kano on Monday.
He said some members of the association who recently underwent COVID-19 test, came out positive.
He said the association lost a doctor penultimate Monday which brought the number to three in the state.
He said, “Presently, we have 53 doctors who tested positive to Covid-19 and three doctors who died as a result of the pandemic in Kano. One of the doctors who died last Monday was a consultant and epidemiologist. ....
