Handwara narco-terror case: House raided in Bandipora | India News

SRINAGAR: A joint team of the National Investigation Agency, CRPF and J&K Police on Monday raided a house in Wangipora village in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district in connection with the Handwara narco-terror case, in which 21kg heroin and over Rs 1 crore cash were seized last year from members of a drug syndicate operating in J&K.
The house owner, Showkat Ahmad Parrey, was arrested along with four others on March 1. On Friday, the NIA claimed to have recovered proceeds of narcotics worth Rs 91 lakh concealed in a field in Samba district’s Gurwal village. One of the arrested men, Romesh Kumar, had received the amount obtained from the sale of narcotics from drug smugglers based in Kashmir Valley for personal use as well as channelization to different terrorist groups, an agency spokesperson had said. ....

In the ongoing probe into the Handwara narco-terrorism case, the National Investigation Agency on Friday recovered Rs 91 lakh found concealed in a field in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, an NIA spokesperson said.
The recovery was made on the disclosure of five persons, who were arrested on March 1 from Srinagar and Jammu and are presently on a 15-day remand, he said.
“Based upon examination and disclosure of arrested accused persons, the NIA conducted searches and recovered proceeds of narcotics smuggling to the tune of 91 lakh. The amount was found concealed in a field in Gurwal village in the jurisdiction of the police station Ramgarh (Samba),” the spokesperson said. ....
