DawnNewsTV/File PESHAWAR: A single-member Peshawar High Court bench on Wednesday granted an interim pre-arrest bail to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader retired Captain Mohammad Safdar until March 22 in a case registered against him here last month on the charges of committing sedition and inciting the personnel of the armed forces to mutiny. Justice Lal Jan Khattak ordered Mr Safdar, who is the son-in-law of former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, to produce two surety bonds of Rs100,000 each. He issued a notice to the police for response on the bail plea during the March 22 hearing. ....
Five labourers injured in Dasu firing incident National February 10, 2021 MANSEHRA: Five labourers were injured when the security guards opened fire after a group of locals tried to enter the Dasu Dam’s tunnel in Ochar Nullah area in Upper Kohistan district on Tuesday, sources said. The sources said that a joint jirga attended by the deputy commissioner, labourers’ representatives, former lawmaker and local elders decided to lodge FIR of the firing incident. The sources added that the incident occurred after the Wapda’s guards allegedly opened fire to disperse a group of locals who were attempting to sneak into the Dasu Dam’s tunnel. “The situation on the ground is peaceful as the jirga held to defuse the tension has decided to lodge an FIR of the incident. The jirga helped open the Karakoram Highway, which was blocked to traffic at two places following the firing incident,” Arif Javed, the district police officer, told reporters. ....
PESHAWAR: A Peshawar High Court bench on Wednesday extended till February 9 the interim pre-arrest bail earlier granted to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader retired Captain Mohammad Safdar in an ongoing inquiry against him by National Accountability Bureau regarding his assets. The bench of Justice Lal Jan Khattak and Justice Ijaz Anwar directed Mr Safdar to cooperate with the investigation team and appear before it whenever required. The bench was hearing a pre-arrest bail petition filed by Mr Safdar stating that the inquiry against him was initiated under political consideration. In October last year, the court had granted interim bail to him on condition of furnishing two sureties of Rs500,000 each. ....
