ISLAMABAD: The Rawal-pindi Development Authority (RDA), which has a large number of private housing societies and housing schemes under its control, is going to get its fourth director general in just five months.
The average stay of every director general during this period has been very brief, a close look at their tenures shows. On every occasion, cases relating to one housing society or the other owned by influential persons became the primary reason for the removal of successive RDA chiefs.
Amara Khan, later appointed the director general of the Peshawar Development Authority, was transferred out as RDA chief on December 15, 2020. Maqbool Ahmad Dhawla, who was serving as the head of the Koh-e-Suleman Development Authority, Dera Ghazi Khan, immediately replaced her. Dhawla was removed after only two months on February 20, 2021. The Rawalpindi Development Authority in its continued drive sealed nine houses, 25 shops and demolished a site office of an illegal housing scheme in Rawalpindi, a spokesperson said on Saturday. The authority received Rs8.08 million in lieu of building maps approval, he added.
The official stated that the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing RDA carried out an operation against illegal housing schemes and other unauthorised constructions across the city.
The LU&BC Wing’s staff, including Demolition Squad in-charge, building inspectors and others have taken strict action against illegal residential cum commercial buildings, sealed eight homes, 25 shops and demolished a site office of an illegal housing scheme on Adiala Road. ....

Site offices of four housing societies sealed - Newspaper


RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Sunday sealed site offices of four allegedly illegal housing societies along with four unauthorised commercial plazas and 24 shops.
RDA staff visited different sites of the city and found unauthorised structures in different places. They sealed four illegal plazas and 24 shops in University Town. A first information report (FIR) was registered against University Town, the site office of Al-Makkah City was sealed and a demolition order was issued against four illegal housing schemes namely Gulshan-i-Bahar, Mian Mohammad Bukhsh Town, University Town and Mivida (Khanyal Homes) in Rawalpindi.
An official of RDA said grand operations against illegal housing schemes and unauthorised constructions are underway in full swing to control illegal development of housing projects. RDA issued 26 notices and 25 challans to the owners of illegally constructed buildings. It has also received fees/charges of Rs32.1 million from vario ....
