Srinagar, May 11 : A terrorist associate was arrested in J&K s Kupwara district and incriminating material, including weapons and cash, recovered from his possession, police said on Tuesday.
Police said acting on specific information, Kupwara police, along with army s 17 RR and 160 TA, established a checkpoint at Reshi Gund crossing of village Kralpora.
During checking, a person who tried to escape the spot, was chased and apprehended by the joint party. He has been identified as Abdul Ahad Lone, son of Abdul Gani Lone, resident of Gararayal Kupwara. ....

3 Lashkar militants killed in Anantnag, OGW held in Kupwara

Srinagar, May 11 : Three militants of Lashkar-e Toiba were killed in an encounter in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district today while an Over Ground Worker of militants was arrested with ammunition in Kupwara.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar told Excelsior that three local militants were killed in Vailoo area of Kokernag belt in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district during a joint operation launched by Police, Army’s 19 RR and CRPF on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that militants were repeatedly asked to surrender but they refused and were killed in the gun battle. He said that security forces rescued all the civilians trapped in the gunfire and halted the operation for till the evacuation of people from the area of gunfight. ....

A statement issued reads,
“Acting on specific information, Kupwara Police along with 17RR and 160TA established a checkpoint at Reshi Gund Crossing of Village Kralpora. During checking, the joint party have arrested a suspicious person who tried to escape from the spot but was tactfully chased and apprehended by the joint party. He has been identified as Abdul Ahad Lone son of Abdul Gani Lone resident of Gararayal Kupwara.”
“During search, officers were able to recover Incriminating materials, ammunition including 12 grenades 182 rounds of AK-47 and cash Rs.169500/- from his possession.”
“Accordingly, a case FIR No. 30/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kralpora and further investigation is in progress.” ....

New Delhi, May 8: Hurriyat Conferences pro-Pakistan faction has become virtually headless with the death of the 77-year-old Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) ideologue Mohammad Ashraf Khan aka Ashraf Sehrai at Jammus Government Medical College Hospital on Wednesday, 5 May 2021.
Separatist hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Sehrai were bosom friends who worked with Jamaat-e-Islami continuously from 1959 to 2003. Both contested elections on JeI s ticket but Geelani alone became a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, three times-in 1972, 1977 and 1987. ....
