New resource aims to stop abuse among people living with disabilities
Missouri organizations have compiled a guide to help notice and prevent abuse of people living with disabilities.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Several groups in Missouri have come together to create a guide they hope will highlight and stop abuse towards people living with disabilities.
The Abuse Awareness and Prevention Guide was developed by the University of Missouri-Kansas City s Institute for Human Development, the Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council and the Missouri Division of Developmental Disabilities.
Experts who helped create the resource explain abuse is a reality for many people living with disabilities that is often not seen. ....

In 2017, Missouri State University received a three-year grant for Project HEAL (Help, Educate, Advocate, Listen) from the Office on Violence Against Women in the Department of Justice.
Project HEAL is a coordinated community approach to reduce sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, and stalking on the campuses of Missouri State and Ozarks Technical Community College (OTC).
Last year, the program was one of only 15 programs across the country to receive a continuation grant for another three years.
