Many displaced landlords at Oke-Egan community, Kayetoro, Eleko, Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos on Friday protested at the state House of Assembly against what they described as unlawful demolition of over 400 houses in the neighbourhood.
The protesters, who claimed to have bought the land from the community’s native families, explained that they were asleep around 3am on Monday when some government officials led by task force operatives brought down the buildings with bulldozers.
Amid sobs, they displayed placards with the inscriptions, ‘We have been demoralised, nowhere to go,’ ‘We want back our properties,’ ‘Our government has made its citizens helpless,’ ‘We want our land back,’ ‘We are low-income people made homeless,’ ‘Our children are crying,’ among others. ....

Residents of Oke-Egan Community, Kayetoro in Eleko area of Ajah, Lagos, on Friday, stormed Lagos State House of Assembly, Alausa, Ikeja, in a peaceful protest over the demolition of their houses, demanding immediate compensation from the state government.
The apparently, distraught residents, who chanted various protest songs, carried placards with different inscriptions.
Some of the inscriptions read; “We have been demoralized, nowhere to go, we need back our properties, our government has made its citizens helpless, we want our land back and we are low-income people made homeless.” ....

Ekiti APC elders call for census committees in all communities

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders’ Forum in Ekiti State has called on all communities in the state to raise Census Committees ahead of the forthcoming National Population Census.
Rising from its end of the year meeting held in Igbara Odo, Ekiti Southwest Local Government Area, the Ekiti APC elders urged the people of the state to participate actively in the ongoing enumeration area demarcation exercise being conducted by the National Population Commission (NPC).
A communique issued at the end of the meeting made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday and signed by the Chairman, Asiwaju George Akosile and the Secretary, Chief Abiodun Ajayi, charged residents to take the exercise seriously because of its future political, social and economic importance. ....
