Stocks on Thursday ended flat as investors did not hesitate in extracting whatever juice was available in terms of capital gains by selling their holdings on the last trading session of the year 2020, dealers said.
Benchmark KSE-100 shares index gained 0.14 percent or 60.62 points to close at 43,755.38 points at Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). Volumes increased to 578.250 million shares from 455.994 million on Wednesday. KSE-30 shares index followed suit with a high of 0.22 percent or 40.27 points to end at 18,180.00 points.
Topline Securities in its daily market review said, continuing its momentum, the index made an intraday high of 195 points.Some pressure was observed from banks and exploration and production sector as the day progressed, it added. ....

The capital market on Thursday, last session before long weekend, closed positive pushed forward by a surge in steel and cement shares on reports that the government was mulling proposal to extend amnesty scheme for the construction sector, dealers said.
Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) benchmark KSE-100 shares index gained 0.76 percent or 329.07 points to close at 43,416.77 points level, while volumes decreased to 570.583 million shares, as compared with the turnover of 378.938 million shares in the previous session.
KSE-30 shares index followed suit with a high of 0.88 percent or 158.54 points to end at 18,097.72 points level. ....

Stocks extended losses on Tuesday tracking world markets ahead of a tougher rollover week, where amount to be settled is the highest ever, i.e., Rs18 billion, dealers said.
Pakistan Stock Exchange’s (PSX) KSE-100 shares index lost 0.98 percent or 426.82 points to close at 42,906.94 points, while volumes increased to 561.855 million shares, compared to 516.465 million shares in the previous session.
KSE-30 shares index followed suit with a low of 0.92 percent or 166.1 points to end at 17,857.10 points.
Salman Ahmad, head of institutional sales at Aba Ali Habib securities, said as expected the rollover week quashed the share values as the amount to be adjusted was the highest ever. ....

The capital market surged on Thursday as sustained increase in global crude oil prices stoked a volumetric rally in domestic energy scrips, supported further by upbeat economic data, dealers said.
Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) benchmark KSE-100 shares index gained 0.94 percent or 406.50 points to close at 43,766.69 points. Last time the index closed at 43,931 points was on June 11, 2018.
The volumes increased to 497.562 million shares, as compared with the turnover of 702.210 million shares in the previous session.
The current level of the index is now the highest level during the current government’s tenure. ....

Stocks moved in a narrow bank during the outgoing week as investors remained aloof looking at rising political noise amid resignations in opposition ranks and rapidly rising Covid-19 cases in the country, dealers said.
However, it would expectedly change course in the upcoming week owing to suppressed food inflation and improving economic indicators.
Pakistan Stock Exchange s KSE-100 index was up by merely one percent or 263 points during the outgoing week to conclude at 42,470 points week-on-week (WoW). The KSE-100 index largely moved between the narrow range of 42,000 to 42,628 level.
Salman Ahmad, head of institutional investment at Aba Ali Habib said, “Owing to cautious investor sentiment, the market moved in narrow banks due to increasing friction between the federal government and 11-party opposition alliance.” ....
