HMA Ships Ballarat and Sirius, both presently at sea on separate regional deployments, are making best speed for the search area.
The Anzac Class frigate Ballarat, equipped with sonar capabilities and an embarked MH-60R helicopter, is expected to be in the search area today after transiting the Lombok Strait.
The support ship Sirius is off the coast of Brunei and will be in the search area from around Tuesday. Sirius can replenish ships with fuel, water and stores by day and night.

HMAS Ballarat returns home in time for Christmas
Royal Australian Navy warship HMAS Ballarat has returned to her homeport of Fleet Base West near Rockingham, Western Australia, following a successful Indian Ocean deployment.
The Anzac Class frigate deployed in October with her 187-strong crew from 816 Squadron and embarked helicopter.
During her nine weeks at sea, Ballarat participated in Exercise MALABAR, a high-end training activity alongside India, Japan and the United States.
Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC commended the crew for their professionalism during the deployment.
“The men and women of HMAS Ballarat have bolstered maritime interoperability in support of a secure and stable Indo-Pacific,” Minister Reynolds said.
