Chinese politician accuses Australia of 'untruthful and immoral' behaviour

A Chinese propagandist who made headlines when he tweeted a doctored photo of a digger holding a knife to an Afghan child s neck has accused Australia of being untruthful and immoral amid escalating tensions between the nations.
Lijian Zhao made the comments during a press conference on Wednesday when he was asked about Home Affairs Secretary Mike Pezzullo s hawkish declaration that the drums of war were beating on Australia s doorstep.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman identified the communist nation as the target of Mr Pezzullo s speech, even though he did not mention China, and slammed selfish Australian politicians for perpetuating the theory that China is a threat. ....

How China is fuelling tensions between Australia and New Zealand

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is asserting New Zealand’s “sovereignty” in defiance of its foreign allies - comprising Australia, Canada, the UK and the US - by signalling that she is “not prepared to take her country into the kind of trade war with China that Australia has found itself facing”, The Guardian’s diplomatic editor Patrick Wintour reports.
Uneasy alliance
A simmering row between Australia and New Zealand bubbled over last week after Ardern’s foreign minister, Nanaia Mahuta, told a press conference that her country needs to “maintain and respect” China’s “particular customs, traditions and values”.
The intervention came amid ongoing tension between Canberra and Beijing over the sovereignty of Taiwan, with Australian Defence Minister Peter Dutton telling ABC’s Insiders on Sunday that he did not think conflict with China “should be discounted”.  ....

Multiple Indigenous communities in the RMWB are calling for parents and guardians to remove their students from all Northland School Division schools.
In a statement, Chief of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation Allan Adam says they’re encouraging this measure to ensure students, teachers, and staff at the schools are safe from COVID-19.
The region remains the worst in the province when it comes to spread of the virus. Wood Buffalo is averaging nearly 1,500 cases per 100,000 individuals.
“This is not a measure we take lightly but it’s for the good of not just our people, but the whole region,” said Adam. ....

Beijing calls Australia 'sick' and blames Scott Morrison for 'beating the drums of war'

Australia is sick and won t to take its medicine, a senior Communist Party official has said in a series of bizarre statements aimed at the nation.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin was quoted in the Communist Party mouthpiece, Global Times, blaming Scott Morrison s government for rising tensions between the two countries.
Among the Wolf Warrior diplomat s gripes, was Australia s decision to scrap China s controversial Belt and Road Initiative agreement with Victoria this month and Canberra s 2018 ban on Huawei from participating in critical infrastructure projects.
Australia is sick, however it is asking others to take medicine, which will not solve the problem at all, Mr Wang said.  ....
