Teachers complain about having to do pupils assessments themselves


Teachers claim they have been left in tears and on their knees with exhaustion after being forced to do pupils assessments themselves without any extra pay.
Most schools in Britain are setting tests to decide grades after this summer s GCSEs and A-levels were axed for the second year in a row due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Three in five schools plan to rely heavily on tests when deciding pupils GCSE and A-level grades this summer even though the official exams have been cancelled.
But teachers complain that they are having to mark these papers – and are also unable to earn money from assessing exams for boards outside their normal work. ....

Britons arrested overseas do NOT have a 'legal right' right to government help, Foreign Office says


British citizens who are wrongfully arrested and tortured overseas will have  no legal right to consular assistance or protection from the state, the Foreign Office has announced. 
In a letter to Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe s lawyers, the Government said it was under no legal obligation to provide assistance to citizens who were falsely accused of a crime while travelling with a British passport.
Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe, 41, a charity worker with the Thomson Reuters Foundation, was arrested in April 2016 at Tehran airport as she was returning home to London with her then 22-month-old daughter, Gabriella, following a family visit in 2016. 
The British-Iranian dual national was jailed for five years on allegations that she plotted to overthrow the Iranian government.  ....

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe's six-year-old daughter wants 'mummy home for Christmas'


Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe s daughter has said she wants mummy home for Christmas as her family face their fifth Christmas without her after she was jailed in Iran.
The 41-year-old was detained in 2016 and jailed for five years on allegations that she plotted to overthrow the Iranian government.
The British-Iranian dual national has always denied the claims, and is currently under house arrest in Tehran, after being released from prison earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Her six-year-old daughter Gabriella has written a card to Boris Johnson, asking him to bring home her mother before her 42nd birthday on Boxing Day. ....
