We hope that everyone had a wonderful May long weekend.  The weather leading up to the weekend was just lovely.  The farmers were busy getting crops planted and the dust was flying.  I do hope we get some rain soon but not before all the gardens are planted.  What a delight to wander in the Garden Centres and nurseries.  Thanks to all those folks for their hard work that helps us beautify our homes and yards.  It is good to see all the fresh vegetables in our local stands.  And of course the rhubarb pies and cakes  were mighty tasty.  That first meal of asparagus was so good. ....

Rare Pictish stone goes on Covid-safe display

A rare Pictish standing stone is to go on display in the window of a Highlands museum that is temporarily closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 1,200-year-old carved stone was discovered hidden under vegetation at an early Christian church site near Conon Bridge last year.
It is to go on display at a museum in nearby Dingwall next week.
The stone will be positioned so that it can be seen by passers-by through a window facing the High Street. ....
