But the Great Sacandaga Lake region was also helped, according to Fulton-Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce President Mark Kilmer, because many of the houses dotting the reservoir’s 115 miles of shoreline are second homes and camps for out-of-town people, many of them hailing from New York City and northern New Jersey. That area was the worst-hit in the country during the early part of the pandemic, so that meant many folks who have properties around the lake came up earlier than normal, Kilmer said. Working and going to school remotely meant these families could take advantage of the “natural social distancing,” he said, as opposed to being stuck in their city homes. ....
Apr 5, 2021 GLOVERSVILLE The Fulton County Tourism Department’s Fulton County restaurant week, will begin June 5, and end June 11, according to a news release. The Tourism Department is requesting restaurants to call the Chamber at (518) 725-0641, or e-mail [email protected] to participate for this year’s event. There will also be a post on Facebook, and an e-mail sent directly to the restaurants to requesting participation. The inaugural Fulton County restaurant week was March 7-13, 2020, right before COVID-19 hit. Despite the world changing right after restaurant week ended, it was a successful event with over 15 restaurants participating. The FCTD will be marketing this event with a multi-media plan including print, digital, and social media platforms and 44lakes.com. WINNIPEG Winnipeg police and RCMP have arrested four people, including three teenagers, in connection with multiple armed robberies over three days. Police said the robberies occurred between Dec. 16 and 19, with nine of the 10 robberies occurred in Winnipeg.
