Canada has lost a national treasure. Christopher Plummer died at 91 at his home in Connecticut. Plummer had a career that spanned 75 years and covered stage, film and television, winning him fans from every walk of life; he was as well-known for his charm and intellect as he was for his talent. The actor got his start on the stage and was already a star in the theatre world when he took on the role of Captain von Trapp in 1965’s The Sound of Music, thereafter becoming a household name. Plummer’s 200-plus roles on the big and small screen won him every award available, including an Academy Award for best supporting actor in 2012 for Beginners. ....
