Experts have warned that recurring waves of coronavirus infections are inevitable if existing practices such as expanding India s vaccination drive and following COVID protocol are not adhered to.
Unlike in January and February when the limited vaccine rollout was yet to accelerate, there is currently a shortage in vaccine supply, with less than 2 million doses being administered a day, and supplies of both Covishield and Covaxin unlikely to significantly pick up before July. ....

COVID-19: SWR builds loading facility for oxygen tankers

They will be loaded on flat wagons at Whitefield and Doddaballapur
The Bengaluru division of South Western Railway (SWR) has built a loading facility at Satellite Goods Terminal, Whitefield to facilitate movement of tanker-trucks carrying oxygen. On Saturday, the Karnataka government had written a letter to the Railway Board seeking a loading facility at Whitefield and Doddaballapur. Within 24 hours, SWR built a ramp to load oxygen tankers on flat wagons.
Aneesh Hegde, Chief PRO of SWR, said, “Following the letter to the Railway Board, we are expecting a demand from the State government for transportation of liquid oxygen by tankers loaded on rail wagons (Roll-On Roll-Off). To facilitate loading of tankers, a ramp has been built at Whitefield.” ....

Citing poor occupancy, the South Western Railway (SWR) has temporarily cancelled train services to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). A press release from the SWR states that trains have been cancelled from Thursday till further advice.
In the first week of January, the Bengaluru division of the SWR had introduced train services from Cantonment, KSR Bengaluru, Yeshwantpur and Yelahanka.
Chief PRO of the SWR Aneesh Hegde said, “The lockdown guidelines do not impose restrictions on operating trains. However, trains have been temporarily cancelled due to poor occupancy.” ....

BENGALURU: A potential accident was averted in the Bengaluru Railway Division between Channarayanapatna and Shravanabelagola stations on Wednesday morning after an alert keyman alerted a Station Master about a tipper that had fallen on the tracks. A localite had tipped him off about the incident, said an official release.
According to railway sources, the driver Dharmaraj had parked the tipper on a road near the tracks. He had switched off the engine and applied hand brakes of the vehicle before leaving it. When he returned after some time, he found his truck had rolled down a slope leading from the road to the tracks and fallen fully upturned on it. The driver h ....
