DC is now offering free at-home Covid tests at 16 libraries across the city, DC officials announced in a press conference today. The tests can be picked up Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and can be dropped off any day before 8 p.m.

This shooting comes after multiple kids have been the victims of gun violence in the DC metro area the last two weeks.

WASHINGTON A 9-year-old girl was shot in Southeast DC Monday afternoon around 5 p.m., according to DC Police Chief Peter Newsham.
The girl was shot near the intersection of 18th and T Streets Southeast when she was walking with a family member. She has been taken to a hospital with non-life threatning injuries, according to DC Police.
Newsham said in his news conference after the shooting that he believes the girl was hit by a stray bullet and was not the attended target of the person(s) who shot her. ....

Girl Shot in Southeast DC; Police Looking for Black Infinity With Tinted Windows

“It doesn’t look like she was in anyway involved, and now she is at the hospital with a bullet wound,” Metropolitan Police Department Chief Peter Newsham said. “Thankfully, we’re getting a report from the hospital that it does not appear to be a life-threatening injury. So hopefully she will make a full recovery.”
The girl and her relative walked to the 1800 block of Good Hope Road, where the relative called 911.
Police are looking for the black Infiniti, which was seen fleeing the scene.
The girl is the third juvenile victim of gun violence in two weeks. A bullet grazed the face of a 12-year-old boy last week while he walked home from a store along W Street NW. Just a week before that, 15-month-old Carmelo Duncan was shot and killed while riding in a car on Southern Avenue SE. ....
